When you decide to get a tattoo, don't be embarrassed to ask for a tour of the studio or space to see the hygiene measures in place. They are obligated to provide you with this information, and you have every right to be informed. Anything used on you should be single-use or cleaned in an autoclave or covered with a disposable barrier. If you see any blood, it's likely a sign that proper precautions are not being taken and there is a risk of infection.
